Swivelling and rocking armchair classic and foot stool. Seat shell and base fibreglass in white or black. Leather upholstery.

Chrome plated steel spring and rubber dampers connect seat shell to base.

Karuselli Story

One winter day in the beginning of the 60’s designer Yrjö Kukkapuro was playing in the snow with his daughter Isa. They made different kind of snow chairs. The results were so inspiring that the designer soon had to leave for his workshop atelier to form something similar out of “real materials”. He set traditional chicken wire so, that he could form a shape by sitting on it just like in the snow. The right kind of shape was created immediately.
So began the story of the famous glassfibre chair, Karuselli. When the first prototype was ready, it was taken to the Helsinki centre furniture shop Haimi to be discussed and commented by the sales people and managers. The meeting took place in the shop before it was opened one morning and the group took a carefully close look at Karuselli, which was situated in the middle of all the furniture products for sale. Suddenly a customer jumped in from the main door that was accidentally left open and asked for a permission to go around the shop. He got it and after a while he noticed the Karuselli prototype. He walked directly to it, sat on it, and after a few moments said: 'I’ll take one of these'.
